The Rockschool Music Practitioners qualifications are for Learners who want to develop their skills in the core elements of the Music Industry. These fully accredited qualifications are a real alternative for Learners who prefer a 'hands-on' approach to learning.

Unit 1 (223) Live Sound Recording

This unit is a practical unit where you will learn how to do a multitrack recording of a band performing live on stage. You will learn about different microphone types and techniques, and how to record each instrument. You will then be expected to set up the recording equipment and carry out the recording, while being able to effectively manage the session and keep everything organised. You will then produce a 2 track mix of the recording using Logic X making use of plugins/effects to enhance your track.

This unit looks at the historical and cultural development of different musical styles and genres, and how they developed over time. You will also be researching other associated music styles and assessing different recordings which represent the evolution of your chosen musical style.

In this unit you will be creating a song using GarageBand/Logic. You will have to use the various software instruments, drum patches, synthesisers and sampled instruments in order to do this. You will then produce a 2 track mix of the song making use of plugins/effects to enhance your track.
